Original – Acrylics On Canvas
This is the second Lewis Landscape painting from this body of work and it was created as the result of a week I spent working on the Isle of Lewis, Scotland back in February 2012. I was inspired by the island’s stunning and yet deserted beaches. The pristine and yet deserted, almost-white sands always surprise new visitors to the Island as they look like they belong to some tropical location rather than a very remote Scottish island beach.
For this series I was working outside in the rain and wind and this can sometimes create a ‘scattered’, or ‘partially obscured’ element to my work. I created these paintings from the warmth and shelter of the lovely holiday cottage that I was using for the trip, but the works were directly influenced by the Scottish Winter weather directly outside. The paint in these pieces was in turn diluted and applied and then partially rubbed off the canvas again, and it was also distressed via abrasion.
This original Scottish landscape art is on a deep box frame canvas and the edges have been painted white. The artist has signed the art on the rear, and it is ready to hang.
