March Incoming Tide, Achmelvich

March Incoming Tide, Achmelvich

20 x 16″ (50 × 40 × 4 cm)
Original Painting – Mixed Media On Canvas

Created from photo’s, sketches and video made at the beach in Achmelvich, Sutherland (Highlands of Scotland) in March 2014 (previously unseen on the website).

We took a trip to the West Coast, travelling across the width of Scotland on the wee roads to the beautiful silver-gold beaches of Sutherland, to celebrate my husbands birthday with a beach BBQ on the first vaguely warm day of the year.

When back in the studio I began this painting, but sadly it found it’s way into a messy corner and has never been exhibited or displayed on my website. It reflects the changing, transient nature of the weather of the Highland Coast, and the subtle, subdued colours of the land when Spring is still a promise.

I recorded the day here, in this video:

Rendered in mixed media, on a box frame canvas with the painting continued onto all sides. Signed on rear and ready to hang.
