Original Art- Acrylic on canvas
This original Isle of Lewis landscape painting is from a body of work resulting from a week spent working on the Isle of Lewis, Scotland in February 2012, inspired by the islands stunning yet deserted beaches. The pristine and deserted almost-white sands always surprise new visitors, they seem as if they should belong to some tropical location rather than a remote Scottish beach.
Working outside in the rain and wind can sometimes create a ‘scattered’, ‘partially obscured’ element to work. These paintings were made from the warmth and shelter of the holiday cottage I was using for the trip, but were directly influenced by the Winter weather outside. The paint was in turns diluted and applied and then partially rubbed off the canvas again, and also distressed via abrasion.
On a deep box frame canvas, with the edges painted white. This original artwork has been signed on the rear, and is ready to hang.
